Fine Art Cakes
Fine Art cakes are classified as CUSTOM CAKES here at Honey Crumb. Our minimum order for all custom work is $500 for a single tier, and $1,000 for multiple tiers. Fine Art cake pricing typically ranges from $22 to $40 per serving, with the final cost determined by the number of servings (or tiers) required for your guest count, and the intricacy of the cake design. Delivery fees are calculated based on distance to your venue, and do not count towards the minimum. Please inquire for answers to any questions.
What makes our “Fine Art” cakes so special?
High-quality, photogenic, and delicious finish: Our Fine Art cakes are typically finished with either rolled fondant, modeling chocolate, or textured chocolate ganache. Our rolled fondant and modeling chocolate finishes are famously thin and delicious, and have a layer of silky Swiss meringue buttercream directly underneath. We can also work with buttercream alone as the exterior covering on your cake, depending on weather and cake display location.
Focus on craftsmanship: These cakes feature intricate details, and demonstrate both precision and a high level of artistic skill, whether they’re small (for an intimate wedding or elopement) or towering multi-tiered ziggurats.
Artistic inspiration: Our Fine Art cake designs are often inspired by broader art and design themes, such as abstract painting, Renaissance sculpture, mid-century modern architecture, or nature itself.
Personalization: These cakes can be customized to reflect your unique story, interests, or the details of your wedding, making each one a completely unique, one-of-a-kind artwork.
Sugar flowers: All of the flowers you see in the galleries below are hand made by us, one petal at a time. They are not fresh flowers plucked from a garden or bought at the flower market; they are completely hand sculpted wonders. We are proud to keep this extraordinary art form alive.
For events with more than 120-150 guests, we often provide an undecorated kitchen cake for any additional servings required. Alternatively, you could simply choose to have a very large cake on display (i.e. four, five, or even six tiers), depending on your guest count and the preferences of your catering team.
Fine Art Cakes: Ordering Process
Step 1: Evaluate Options & Confirm Availability
Review the details on our Wedding FAQ page, as well as our Pricing page, and you’ll have a comprehensive grasp of which of our offerings would be the best fit for your tastes and budget.
Submit an inquiry, and we’ll check our calendar to make sure we can accommodate a wedding cake order for your date.
Step 2: Cake Tasting
Pre-order a selection of samples as part of our Biweekly Tasting option. Enjoy your choice of our best selling cake flavors in the comfort of your home, and select your favorite combination.
Step 3: Discuss Design & Logistics
Consult with our chef via email or phone to go over all the details for your cake design, as well as the logistics of delivery or pickup. We’ll send you a quote — containing the specifications of your order, as well as our terms & conditions — to review and approve.
Step 4: Book Your Date
To secure your event date on our calendar, we require a non-refundable date reservation fee of 50% of the total estimate for your order.
You may opt to book your date before or after your tasting. (We’ll gladly advise you on this, if you wish — as the level of risk is determined by whether your event is taking place during peak season or not, and the current status of our bookings for that date.) The purpose of this step is to secure us as your vendor. Be advised that we cannot guarantee our availability for your event unless we have received this fee.
Step 5: Submit Final RSVPs & Balance Payment
Send us your final RSVP total no later than 3 weeks out. We’ll adjust the order accordingly and confirm your final balance due. Settle your balance no later than 14 days prior to your wedding.
If there are any design details outstanding from Step 3 (i.e. color palette, flower types) that have since been finalized with your florist or planner, we’ll wrap these up with you no later than 3 weeks out.
Step 6: Cake Delivery
Relax while we liaise directly with your event planner to confirm the logistical details and personally set up your cake on the day, punctually and professionally.
