HONEY CRUMB LLC: THE FINE PRINT

Booking, and Methods of Payment – We accept cash, checks, electronic payments via Venmo or PayPal, and direct bank transfer (via Zelle). Payments via PayPal are subject to a card processing fee of 3.6% + $0.60, which PayPal will retain once the transaction is complete. A non-refundable, non-transferable date reservation fee of 50% of the total cost of the order must be made at the time of booking for all cake orders of $500 or more. For cake orders of $499 or less, payment in full is required upon booking, and is non-refundable and non-transferable. We will impose a $25.00 return check fee on any bounced checks. The 50% date reservation fee to secure your order on our calendar must be sent to us within five (5) calendar days of declaring your intention to order your cake from us. If the retainer has not been received after five (5) days, the date will re-open at Honey Crumb's discretion.

Balance of Payment — The balance payment is due two weeks (14 days) prior to the event date. It is the client’s responsibility to provide the final payment by this deadline, and we do not send a reminder. We reserve the right to cancel the order if the balance has not been received on time. No payments made to us will be refunded or transferred, and we will be under no further obligation.

Minimum Order and Seasonal Restrictions – A minimum of $600 is imposed on all custom-designed birthday / celebration cakes. A minimum of $1,500 is imposed on all custom-designed Fine Art wedding cakes. This minimum (for custom-designed Fine Art wedding cakes) may increase to $2,000 during peak season (May through September), depending on our availability.

For all cakes ordered from the pre-designed “Classic & Simple Cakes” catalog, a minimum of $810 is imposed. For clients desiring a kitchen/sheet cake in addition to a cutting/display cake ordered from the “Classic & Simple Cakes” range, a cake of at least three tiers in size (60 servings) must first be ordered as the cutting/display cake.

A minimum of $2,000 is imposed during peak season (May through September) on all orders -- both custom-designed and pre-designed -- that require delivery beyond a 50-mile radius from Seattle (one way), or for deliveries that involve ferry travel.

Delivery Restrictions -- Our cake deliveries are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not offer delivery for any stacked cake of less than three tiers, or for any sculpted cake of less than 50 servings. If your event is taking place during peak season (May through September) and your cake is otherwise eligible for delivery, this is not a guarantee that we will have the capacity to deliver your cake. In these instances, your cake may need to be picked up from the bakery instead. We will discuss the options with you based on our availability.

Sketches – Custom digital sketches are NOT provided for pre-designed “Classic & Simple Cakes”, “Micro-Wedding Cakes”, or for any cake design offered in our online store. Furthermore, not all custom cake orders are eligible for a sketch. These include cakes that will be replicated from photos (provided by the client or by us), among others. Providing sketches for custom designs is entirely at our discretion. The initial design phase for custom-designed, Fine Art wedding cakes that meet a minimum of $2,000 includes one digital sketch and one revision. Additional revisions will incur a design fee of $200 per hour. Once you (the client) have approved your cake design and have received an order confirmation via email from Honey Crumb, you may make reasonable changes to the design and size of your cake up to twenty-one (21) days prior to your event. Additional decorating charges may be added to your order, depending on the nature of the changes. If the changes you request require additional digital mockups, we will also impose a design fee of $200/hour. In such event, we will send you a “Change Order” confirmation via email, which describes such changes and any resulting additional charges.

Lock-Out — Once the balance payment has been submitted, the order specifications are deemed to be finalized and no further alterations may be made. This includes design modifications, and reduction (or increase) in number of cake servings provided. It is the client’s responsibility to submit their final RSVP total no later than 21 days prior to the event date, if you would like us to make any changes to the size (or design) of your cake. If the client chooses to submit the balance of payment earlier than 14 days prior to the event, the client accepts that no further changes may be made to the order and absolutely no refunds will be issued.

Cancellation Policy – The retainer payment (to secure your cake order on our calendar) is non-refundable and non-transferable. If you wish to cancel your order with us outright, we must receive notification of your intent to cancel your order in writing. If we receive an order cancellation request less than three weeks prior to your event date, the balance payment is still due, and is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Cake tasting payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Deposit for Cake Stands – In the event that you choose to use one of our cake stands or pedestals, we require a $100 refundable deposit for each item that is on loan to you. Your deposit will be returned to you if each item is returned to us, clean and unharmed, within five (5) days of the event. We reserve the right to keep your deposit (or to deduct a reasonable portion of the deposit to cover cleaning or restoration costs) if these conditions are not met. Borrowed stands must be returned to our bakery (177 Western Ave W, Suite 268-A, Seattle, WA 98119) during our business hours (11am to 5.30pm, Tues-Fri), within the 5 days following your event. You may call us at (425) 577-9220 if you wish to return borrowed items outside of business hours, and we will gladly assist you.

Fresh Flowers – We DO NOT use or recommend the use of fresh flowers on our cakes, to prevent contamination of our product by pesticides or other non-food-safe contaminants. If you wish to have fresh flowers arranged on your cake, it is your responsibility to supply the flowers (whether they are self-sourced or ordered through your event florist), and you will be charged an extra fee of $85 for us to prep, sanitize, and wrap your flower stems on site before arranging them onto the cake. In declining to have our handmade, food-safe sugar flowers on your cake, and in choosing instead to have fresh flowers arranged on your cake, you acknowledge that fresh flowers are not food products, and may be toxic or contain pesticide/herbicide residues, dirt, insects, and/or other contaminants. You also acknowledge that even organically-grown flowers may be inherently poisonous (e.g. hellebores, anemones, hydrangeas) and may harm your guests. All responsibility for the freshness, color, overall condition, and cleanliness of the flowers rests with you (and/or your event florist). If the fresh flowers for your cake have not been set aside for us on or near the cake table (for ease of locating them upon our arrival at your venue), then we reserve the right to set up your cake without fresh flowers. The nature of our cake delivery schedule typically prevents us from staying behind at your venue to wait for the flowers/florist to arrive.

Our Obligation – We take our obligation to provide your cake very seriously. However, should an unforeseeable event occur that prevents us from fulfilling our obligation and forces us to cancel our agreement with you, we will refund your payment in full. In addition, if at all possible, we will work with you to find another qualified pastry chef or local bakery to assist you with your cake, and will communicate your specifications to the new baker/designer.

Liability for Mistakes – While we make every effort to provide exactly the flavors, fillings, decorations, sizes, shapes and colors you have requested, the creation of a wedding cake is an art and may be subject to slight variations and/or errors by the creator(s).  Decorative finishes are done by hand and are subject to the creative interpretation of our cake artists. You may provide us with a photograph for inspiration; however, we make no claims for exact duplication of the work represented in such images. Due to the handcrafted nature of our products, we do not provide refunds or exchanges for custom orders. Refunds requested due to decorating style, writing, color shade, or general design will not be honored after your cake has been picked up (by you or your representative) or after we have delivered your cake and departed from the venue.

Limitation of Liability – Honey Crumb Cake Studio will endeavor to perform its services in a professional manner and provide the best customer experience possible. In the event that our products or services do not meet our high standards, we may — at our discretion — offer store credit towards a future purchase. Honey Crumb’s total liability is hereby limited to amounts paid to Honey Crumb for its goods and services. Honey Crumb will not be liable for any special, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages, whether foreseen or unforeseen, regardless of whether liability is based on breach of contract, breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability, tort, or otherwise.

Post-Setup Precautions – Once the cake assembly/setup is complete at your event venue, Honey Crumb is not responsible for any damage to the cake other than damage that occurs as a result of improper construction/production. If your venue is outdoors, it is your responsibility to take the necessary precautions (shading, level ground, insect netting, wind protection, temperature control, etc.) to ensure that the cake remains intact beyond initial setup.

Photographs of Your Cake – We reserve the right to take and use our own photos of your cake(s) to use for marketing and promotional purposes without compensation to you. We may also request photographs from your photographer for the same purpose, although we would credit the photographer in our marketing (if the photographer agrees thereto).

In submitting payment to Honey Crumb in any amount, the client agrees to the aforementioned Terms & Conditions.
