A NOTE ABOUT OUR PREFERRED STYLE:

  • Most of our celebration cakes are either round, square, rectangular, or heart-shaped, with details added throughout. We prefer to work in a cleaner, more contemporary style — using good proportions, bold pattern/texture, and most often our handmade sugar figurines, appliqués, or flowers to create a pleasing composition. We love abstract, modern work that allows our creativity to shine.

  • We do not recreate exact replicas of other artists’ work. We respectfully ask that you trust us to create something unique for you, based on the inspiration you provide.

Celebration Cakes

Option 1: CATALOG CAKE

In our online store, we have a range of gorgeous & highly popular catalog cakes available for purchase.

You may find that the cake you’re looking for is already in the catalog!

The options for customization are LIMITED to what is presented in the catalog. If you don’t find what you’re looking for in the online store, please see Option 2 and Option 3 on this page for custom designs.

  • 1-2 weeks, depending on seasonal availability (please allow 1-3 months during peak wedding season, May through September)

  • Pricing starts at $170 for a single tier to serve 8-10. Final pricing is dependent on cake size (number of servings), and intricacy of decoration. Full pricing details are listed in our online store.

Option 2: ROUND/SQUARE THEMED CAKE

Choose a traditional round or square cake. We then add custom sugar decorations to the top and/or sides of the cake. These decorations are either 3-D sculpted figurines, or 2-D "appliqués”, or a combination of both.

If you need more than 20-25 servings, we can stack two tiers together.

ENDLESS options for customization. If you can dream it, we can build it out of cake!

  • At least 1-3 months, depending on seasonal availability. We recommend ordering at least 3-6 months in advance if your event is taking place during peak wedding season (May through September).

  • Our MINIMUM order is $500 for a custom round or square cake. Final pricing is dependent on design complexity, and number of servings.

Most single-tiered custom cakes are $500-$900, and most two-tiered custom cakes are $750 to $1,200.

Option 3: SCULPTED “3-D” CAKE

Custom “3-D” sculpted cakes involving carving cake into more intricate forms. We require a minimum order of 25-30 servings, to give us enough volume of cake to work with when creating an edible sculpture.

Intricate cakes such as this typically require an internal armature or custom supports to allow the cake to defy gravity.

ENDLESS options for customization. The sky isn’t even the limit!

  • At least 2-4 months, depending on seasonal availability. We recommend ordering at least 3-6 months in advance if your event is taking place during peak wedding season (May through September).

  • Pricing starts at $1,500 for a custom 3-D sculpted cake. This includes cars, spaceships, motorcycles, boats, houses, life-sized kitchen equipment (e.g. our KitchenAid mixer cake!), large-scale characters or animals, and all other complex forms for which no mass-produced cake pan shape already exists.

Final pricing is dependent on design complexity and the number of servings required.

Happy Clients

“I have gone to Honey Crumb multiple times over the years for various major events in my family — they have created two wedding cakes, two bridal shower cakes, a retirement cake, as well as a baby shower cake for us. Needless to say, each and every time my experience with them has been nothing but wonderful! Carla is always so prompt in replying to inquiries, offers suggestions any time my creative vision was lacking, and, most importantly, her cakes are always amazingly beautiful and incredibly delicious. Guests always have rave reviews! Would recommend them, without hesitation, every time! I'm just as excited to see Carla's most recent cake for us (my parents' 50th anniversary cake) as I am to eat more of her cake!!! Fully confident she will once again exceed expectations!”

“I ordered a jungle-themed birthday cake for my 2-year-old. Not only it was a last-minute order (for Mother's Day weekend), but also came with a special request of not using eggs. Carla was kind enough to accept the order at a short notice and did a tremendous job at it. She even agreed to do buttercream frosting instead of fondant at our request. The end result was excellent! The cake design looked as good, if not better, than the picture we had shared. It was really a piece of art! All the detail she put into the handcrafted edible animals… the precision was simply stunning. They looked like animals made at a toy factory. The taste was out of this world too, especially given the fact that it was eggless. Our guests were raving about it and multiple folks (some of them decent cake bakers themselves) asked for a reference. I am one happy customer!”

— Hadoop M., Bellevue

“Just celebrated my daughter's birthday yesterday and as a special treat, I ordered a small cake from Honey Crumb to showcase the cake-and-champagne celebration. Carla couldn't have been more delightful to work with. From start to finish, she was very responsive, and the end result exceeded my expectations! I ordered the dark chocolate “mocha” flavor. Carla had previously made my daughter's and now son-in-law's wedding cake in July of 2017, so this is our second cake from Honey Crumb and we were very thrilled with the moist cake. Her frosting is legendary! Carla will be my ‘go-to’ baker for special cakes for many years, I am certain!!”

Entrusting someone to create a cake for a special event is always a gamble; you don't know what you’re getting until you slice into the cake. I can assure you that Carla and team execute both a beautiful and delicious cake. I ordered the London Fog along with the vegan mini Bundts and couldn't have been happier. The seamless web interface made designing the cake, placing the order and scheduling pickup super easy even though I was out of state. The cake itself was balanced on all fronts (taste/flavors/ texture). Same goes for the vegan mini Bundts. You would never guess they're vegan and the lemon lavender combo lends itself to refreshing, guilt-free decadence. Lastly, Carla was delightful, you can tell she takes her craft seriously but there's a playfulness and poetry in her work. Worth every penny and calorie!

Special note regarding elaborate sculpted “3-D” cakes:

We’ve spent more than 14 years creating elaborate “3-D” / sculpted cakes, carved into many intricate shapes like ‘59 Chevy Corvettes and Millennium Falcons and grand pianos. We’ve learnt a thing or two about how best to construct them. However, we’d like our clients to keep in mind the following:

  • Most sculpted / “3-D” cakes are extremely time-consuming to create. There’s the planning process, requiring back-and-forth emails with our clients to finalize the details, followed by custom sketches and “blueprints” of the cake to help us envision the project before the cake layers have even been baked. There’s the specialized equipment we need to source to create certain structural elements to support the cake. And then, there’s the actual creation time: mixing, baking, filling, stacking, carving, chilling, decorating, painting, piping, etc. Finally, the cake needs to be safely delivered and set up at its final destination, including any “damage control” — to fix cracks or other issues that may have arisen during (bumpy) road transport. All of this amounts to an enormous investment of time and skill — more than most of the wedding cakes we create (even the “Fine Art” ones!). Our sculpted cakes are priced accordingly (minimum order = $1,500) and we NEVER negotiate on pricing for handmade edible art like this that isn’t mass-produced.

  • Many sculpted / “3-D” cakes require internal supports and armatures, which are typically inedible. They’re made from things like copper wiring, aquarium tubing, styrofoam, and even threaded rods, washers and bolts! (In other words, more “Home Depot” than actual food.) The armature then needs to be treated in some way to make it food-safe, but all of these materials make it almost impossible for our clients to cut and serve their cakes with ease. Needless to say, this unholy merging of the edible and the non-edible has never sat well with us, so we avoid it whenever possible. And, when we can’t avoid it, we make very specific diagrams for our clients (and/or their catering team) so that all inedible elements can be safely separated from the cake during serving.

  • Each cake artist specializes in certain styles and techniques. Over the years, we’ve noticed that our clients LOVE our natural, clean, and modern style — and it’s not typical for our clientele to request very elaborate sculpted cakes, or “novelty” cakes with overly literal or complicated themes. We LOVE using our creative talents to come up with a themed cake that is consistent with our contemporary & whimsical style, and that suits your tastes and budget, without necessarily involving much “sculpting” or the use of inedible structural elements.
